MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Moisture Creme Review

MAC's Lightful Marine Bright Formula Moisture Creme has been a staple in my skincare routine for quite some time now so I was pretty shocked when I realised I hadn't written about it yet. Bad beauty blogger! I hauled this moisturiser back in June (see huge MAC collective haul here) and I've been using it almost daily ever since.

For all my thoughts on the MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Moisture Creme, keep reading!

The MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Moisture Creme is a potted moisturiser. It has a gel like creme consistency that absorbs into the son very quickly into the skin and is said to make skin look brighter and more luminous over time. This moisturiser has a subtle and fresh scent that I find really appealing and I don't think it aggravates my sensitive skin.
I didn't have high hopes for this product. I was sure it was going to be nice moisturiser, yes, but I didn't think it'd work for my combination/oily skin. Somehow, however, the MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Moisture Creme has been great! As I said, it has a lightweight gel like formula which sinks into the skin really quickly and it leaves the face feeling really hydrated and plump without being oily or greasy. It hydrates the face without being heavy on the skin and it works really well underneath make up, something I really wasn't sure about. Initially I was only using this in the evenings but now I use it morning and night without feeling like it's too much. I don't really have dry skin so I don't know how it goes on the driest of faces, but I think it would be nice on combination/normal/dry skin types.

With continuous use, I have noticed that my complexion has definitely become a bit brighter. It's probably not dramatic enough for anyone but myself to notice but I do and, really, that's all that matters. After the first application I noticed a difference in how bright my skin was which was really nice too (unless it was all in my head, which I don't think it was). We all love some instant gratification.

Whilst I don't mind the potted packaging, I do know that it makes some of the really great ingredients in this product ineffective as they are exposed to so much oxygen. I'm not too sure how much of a difference that makes to the product over time but I'm sure it's something to consider.

I am really loving the MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Moisture Creme and I'm quite sad that I'm almost done with it. It's a really fantastic product that far surpassed my expectations and it's become the step I look forward to in my routine as it feels so lovely on the face. This moisturiser isn't cheap, retailing for $68.00 in Australia and $42.00 int the US, but I highly recommend it to people who are looking for an intense moisturiser that doesn't mess with sensitive skin and isn't too heavy for combination/oily gals.

Have you tried this or any other MAC moisturiser? Let me know what you thought below!

  1. I haven't seen a lot of reviews on MAC's skincare lines before. I might need to give them a try!
